On top of the world, at last!

When Jennie Reed crossed the line in Manchester, England for her first World Championship Title in the Keirin, it was a culmination of 10 years of hard work and passion. Jennie sits down with Robin Horwitz to explain how she got to this point and the elation she experienced throughout the victory.

Currently, Jennie is a member of the Momentum Cycling Team based in Los Angeles with teammates: Adam Duvendeck, Travis Smith and Josiah Ng. The team was founded by Howard Marans to provide support for the professional cyclists in USA.

The Worlds That Wasn�t (for me anyway)

I recently returned from the World Track Championships in Manchester, England, where my racing results were far from optimal. It was not from lack of effort, but sometimes these things happen. In preparation for this event, I did everything right; I went to bed early, ate more vegetables and less cookies, took my iron, did lots of sprints and climbed lots of steep hills, stretched, and did core work. In spite of my best efforts, the racing went very poorly for me… but at least not everyone was in the same boat I was.

Things started to not go so great when I traveled to LA three weeks before the championships to get some warm weather training and track time. I planned to have a big week of load to give my system a jolt and induce some fatigue, which would ultimately result in a higher state of fitness for the competitions, but when I arrived in CA and began to train, I found my legs were completely unresponsive to any pressure at all. In fact, they were so flat and lifeless that when I tried to ride hard, they actually felt like they were pushing back. This was not really confidence inspiring, but whatever, I can roll with it and keep it positive, so I packed my bags and returned to CO for a brief rest.

Frisco, TX (April 2, 2008) - Big time racing returns to the Frisco Superdrome on Saturday and Sunday April 19th and 20th for the Matrix Track Cup. Top racers from throughout Texas and across the U.S. will compete for $10,000 in cash and prizes including $3,000 for the elite men and $2,000 for the elite women.

The Matrix Track Cup will also kick-off the 2008 ATRA Calendar as well as the 2008 Texas Cup Track Racing calendar. The American Track Racing Association (ATRA) has been reborn for the 2008 season with a new executive board, website and National track racing calendar boasting over $100,000 in prize money at 30 events held around the United States.
