Yesterday did a little track riding on my road bike (yes you saw that right, ROAD bike... because I had to ride 60km to get there and I wanted to use my powermeter)
Did 4 workouts... two speed work (simulated 200m dive but did only the first 100) and two starts (on into turn 3, the other a full lap) and got some strange data collected. It was so weird that I was a bit shocked.
speed work: max power 985W, max HR 194bpm
start 1: 1117W, 187bpm
start 2: 1071W, 183bpm
How come I get to record a lower post-workout heart rate for a much harder training? Or is that some sort of a norm?
Well... granted I did weights on the previous Wednesday and Friday so those were by no means "quality" training... maybe it's the lack of quality that resulted in this, and feeling I went all-out was all just false image.

What is HR? and why do people still measure it? _________________ "Shake & Bake!"

Because I had that function lying around?
Actually I wasn't too bothered with my HR (or even power for that matter, since it's still preparation phase now) that I didn't check it until Monday evening when I had to log the records into my computer. I wore the HR detection belt mainly to make sure I was keeping a low enough intensity riding to the track.
I know that sprinters don't look at HR. But I still think the outcome was a bit counter-intuitive.
b •wrote• maybe you had a tailwind or headwind ,different gears,i suppose that would make some difference.
No wind that I noticed, same gearing (53/15) although the speed was significantly different. On the speed work I did close to 60kph, while for each start I was only capable of 55k and a bit... not sure, have to check later.
