The Gardin Frames are on the podium in the center of the track. Check them out next time you are at the Velodrome.
They will be used to Fund our Cadet & Junior Program this winter and spring. 100% of the money raised by the equipment goes to the Kids.
The Silent Aution begins now..... and ends at 4pm on the Swap meet / Open house at the Velodrome on October 7th.
There is a minimum bid. Other Equipment is also for sale....... I'm in for $70 all ready.
Bid High as these frames are collectors items.
Thanks again to Curt Harnett for the generous donation to support our Young riders.

God I wish I could by all these frames! Here's the Equipment that was generously donated by Curt himself to FCV... or whats left of it after the Juniors spent their parants money on the pedals and chainrings. All the frames are handbuilt by Joe Gardin, a Canadian builder out of Quebec.
Curt's NJS certified and regestered frams/ fork with Cambria Rhino headset. Bid is already up to $200 thanks to me!
An never ridden super low profile bike with gusseting in the head tube and BB area. Starting bid is $100
A low profile frame with mono stay also never ridden, has Dura Ace Headset Starting bid $130
A super heavy duty frame that looks like was hand pained with little patterns and decorations. Basicly it is the definition of "The 90's". Has a Campy BB in it. Starting bid is $145.
I beleive one wheel remains, a Sunshine NJS hub, hoshi bladed spokes(tied and soldered) and a Araia tubular rim.
There is still plenty of parts that were used by Curt including Campagnolo 14 and 16 tooth cogs, a Dura-Ace7600 (Black) 45 and 47 tooth chainring. Several stems and seat posts.
I'm sure if somone wishes to bid high enough to purchase the frame it can be shipped.
Thanks for the chain ring Curt! |

|
|
Good evening all. I've ridden only fixed on the road, and only once owned a frame with track dropouts. Being still foreign to purely track frames, I'm curious to know what are the three sets of holes near the dropouts for? I see them on Curt's frames, but I've not seen them on fixed frames for the road.
BTW Nice frames! |

I was speaking with some of the parents who were from Ottawa and Gatineau at last weekend's camp and we didn't know that these Gardin frames were made in Quebec. That's a nice piece of history.
Now if Curt would let us know who painted the beautiful little symbols on the one. |

One or two people didn't know who Curt was. Here is his web page on the canoe web site.

Hmm. I'm disappointed that Curt's 'bio' from above doesn't indicate the fact that he still holds the world record for the 200m flying lap (9.865 sec). Thanks Mike. |

I hate to rain on the parade, but the info on these is not exactly correct.
Joe Gardin is a dear friend of mine, back in the early 80's he contributed a great deal to cycling, Curt in particular.
Curts performances world wide certainly spoke volumes for the quality of the frames. But Joe lived and still does in Toronto.
I'am not sure who built Curts frames for him, I'am sure that they are very rigid and strong. My guess would be Marinoni, hence Kebec.
I have a Marinoni at home that I set my WR's on all painted up AMF which was our sponsor at the time.

| The Frames were handed to Steve Merker by Curt and he even mentioned sitting around with Mr.Gardin's son and deciding on paint colours? The frames have Gardin Stamped on some of the BB's and some of the Seat Stays? Good enough for me? Maybe Mr Gardin would look at the Pics and fill us in????? |

Talking o' Marinoni, I'll be up at the shrine, north of Montreal, on Friday. I just checked with Luc the builder and he'll be there. I was last there when I was up at the '79 pro Six-Day in the old olympic velodrome (RIP). You remember that 6 doncha Gord? I've got pics of you in my album if I drag 'em out.
I've got the poster of your sprint with Jamie to give to them.
Au revoir! |
