From Zero Reset
Another barrier broken
Sat Sep 08, 2007 7:37 pm

[  Mood: Happy ]
[ Working - doing commentary at ADT\'s Velodrome Championships & g Currently: Working - doing commentary at ADT\'s Velodrome Championships & g ] One of my big goals is to get under 4:00 for the 3km, something I wasn't able to do before the accident.

I didn't make it (again) this year,
but the plethora of 4km races at the end of the season presented another, interim goal, breaking 6:00 for the 4km.

Today I was able to drop nearly 8 seconds off my previous best, and finish in 5:56.79

While not putting anybody trying to qualify for elite nats at risk today
(I finished 8th of 8 riders), it was a nice pay off for all the training and hours away from my family this year. It was a very satisfying example that if you put your mind to something, and do the work, results can come your way.

I have one more race this season, and I'm confident I'll be able to go even faster.

It's amazing how complicated a simple race of 12-16 laps can be.
I feel like I'm still learning something with every race.

Thanks for reading.

I hope you reach your goals too
(and have fun doing it).
