From Zero Reset
An end to the story?
Fri Sep 21, 2007 3:59 pm

[  Mood: Confused ]
I learned today that because USA cycling decided to "roll up" people who finished at ADT's velodrome championships behind previous qualifiers, that I have qualified to compete in the endurance events at this year's Elite National Championships.

http://www.usacycling.org/forms/track/QualifiedRidersEnduranceMenList.pdf

On the one hand, this puts a bit of a fairy tale ending on my story, "From Zero Reset".
It's been a little over one and a half years since the crash, the surgery, and the beginning of a long rebuilding process, first to stand, then to walk, then ride.

I've had alot of help along the way, from my family and friends to the professionals who put me back together and helped me rebuild my body: bone, muscle, and nerves.

I still have more improvement in front of me, and to be honest, I have some hesitancy about actually competing in the event (the nationals), in part because I feel I'm not fast enough yet. I only raced the 4km pursuit, and finished last, but if I compete at Nats, that's all I would want to race.

My head is a whirlwind of emotions right now, and some people are telling me to go for it, enjoy the moment. It's a bit overwhelming to think that I've come from not being able to stand to being able to compete in an event that is in effect, part of the Olympic Trials.

For those of you who've been reading, thanks for following me on the journey so far.
Let me know what you think should come next.
