Many of the leading cyclists of the age graced the track for an annual gala meeting up until the late 50s. In 1957 a violent storm caused the event to be cancelled and it was never resurrected to the same degree thereafter.-tci
Now is used only once a year for a meeting held on the first Sunday of July.-tci
